Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Doctor of Ministry Thesis-Project
Abstract: The focus of this thesis-project is a pedagogical question that explores how a local congregation can recover an understanding and practice of community in order not just to be a community, but to function as a formative disciple-making communion. The goal of this thesis-project is to affirm that vocational discipleship is primary in the mission of local congregations. This thesis-project recommends practices intended to help local congregations become disciple-making communities that shape and influence how Christians live in the world in response to the call of God, in the pursuit of their vocations and work, and in the exercise of faithful presence. "Faithful presence" is the description of Christian calling recommended by James Davison Hunter in To Change the World.
